Day 1 : Start of the stay to reach Zagora
Meet in Marrakech in the morning to reach Zagora, a small town located at the edge of the desert. The route crosses the Atlas and multiple Berber villages before reaching the Drâa Valley.
Arriving in Zagora, we join the track leading to the Moula Char mountains.
It’s time to meet your traveling companions: camel drivers and camel caravans.
First night in a nomadic bivouac in the mountains of Souss-Massa-Drâa
Day 2 : Marrakech – Tizi n Tichka – Telouet – Ait benhaddou
After breakfast, early departure from your riad/hotel in Marrakech to cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2260 m) – the highest pass in Morocco offering spectacular panoramic views of the mountains and valleys with a winding road with landscapes of different colors and Berber villages along the way.
After a scenic stop, continue towards the Telouet Valley to the salt mines road, used to bring the much sought-after goods to the courts of the sultans. We soon reach the village of Anmiter to visit the pasha’s palace (Elglaoui) which dominates the lands of Glaoua, a fortified citadel which is both a microcosm of an empire and its disappearance.
The pasha had managed to eclipse the sultan by controlling most of Morocco and decided to build his palace in the middle of nowhere, where his family was originally from.

Then, we will take the path that leads to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, crossing the Ounila valley. Check in to your hotel
Day 3 : Ait benhaddou – Zagora – M’hamid Elghizlane
After breakfast, meet your driver and head towards MhamidLghizlane, Starting from Ait Benhaddou and passing through the Eastern Anti-Atlas, along beautiful arid and rocky landscapes, we will join Colonel Tizi-n-Tinfifte.
When we arrive in Agdz, we will start a green trail that will take us to oases and other small villages. The trails run along the right side of Draa Wadi, cross the palm grove and allow you to see the wheat and barley harvests.
Arriving in Zagora, we will visit the pottery workshops, the Tamegroute kiln and the Koranic library.
Then we take the road to Tagounite, before arriving at Mhamid where the Draa valley and civilization end. Around 4 p.m., you will begin the nomadic life by riding the camels.

Day 4 : M’hamidElghizlane – Agdz – Tamnougalt – Ouarzazate
After a morning walk before breakfast, enjoy the sunrise among the sand dunes (optional), ride a camel to Mhamid and meet your driver for your return trip to Ouarzazate, along the Drâa valley and the tansikht (see the henna fields), discover the hidden treasures of the Southern region and the road of 1000 kasbahs.
Arrival at the village of Tamnougalt and free time for lunch. The great Ksar Tamnougalt was for centuries the capital of the Mégota tribe and the seat of the caïd representing the sultan of the region.
Successive caids built different kasbahs, first inside then outside the Ksar, some of which are spectacular in their proportions and decoration, unique in southern Morocco.
Arrival in Ouarzazate and installation at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Karam Palace hotel or similar
Day 5 : Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After a late breakfast, depart your hotel for a short orientation tour of Ouarzazate.
Start with the panoramic photo of the Kasbah of Taourirt, the second residence of the former pasha of Marrakech “Elglaoui” and the optional visit to the cinematographic center or the Moroccan Hollywood.
Ouarzazate became famous when it was near the Kasbah; Ait Benhaddou appeared in the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia.
Major films have been filmed in this area, such as Gladiator, The Momey, Jesus of Nazareth, Babel, Prince of Persia, Asterix & Obelix, etc.
Say goodbye to the Moroccan desert from its Ouarzazate gate keeping the best memories of this country and return to Marrakech via Agelmous and Tichka.
Enjoy a Berber lunch in the village of Ait Ourir on a restaurant terrace overlooking the Zat River.
Arrival in Marrakech and installation at your hotel. Free end of the afternoon to relax at the hotel or shop for souvenirs in the souks of Marrakech.
